Support for Business Start-Up

The Business Start-up Unit (BSU) provides support and advice for clients who are wishing to become self employed or start a business. These businesses may range from Sole Traders; Partnerships; Limited Partnerships; Limited Companies to Not for Profit organisations. We can also provide structured workshop training in the following areas; marketing, market research, advertising and promotion, credit control, negotiation skills, selling skills, customer care and time management.

Currently we are delivering two self-employment programmes;

  • the New Deal Self-Employment Option for Job Centre Plus (as sub-contractor to Birmingham Training) across the West of England, Gloucester and Swindon areas.

  • and Working Communities, which is funded by the European Social Fund. Available at no cost for people who are not eligible for New Deal but are interested in starting a business. (Bristol, Bath and Weston-Super-Mare).
